I just spent $20 for a piece of cake. Ask me anything.
Our local intergroup had its Gratitude Dinner tonight. The high point is always the cake auction: my table bid $240 on a homemade raspberry confection (that worked out to $20 a person).

It was delicious, and the money went to a good cause. I freaked out at the thought of spending $20 on dessert, but I remember the days when I spent twice that on a bottle of wine, and probably consumed it just as fast. At least I won't have a raspberry hangover tomorrow.

The winner of the evening was a "Twelve Step Cake". Yup, twelve graduated layers made in the shape of a flight of stairs, and embellished with hand-made chocolate roses. That one went for $400, a bit too rich for my blood. I also won a copy of Daily Reflections as a door prize.

In all a wonderful evening.
