Here's another book for recovery ..
I've had this book for over 10 years, but never really got into it.

http://www.amazon.com/Stretch-Surrender-Health-Relaxation-Recovery/dp/0915801310/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1201594179&sr=1-1

"Stretch and Surrender", A Guide to Yoga, Health and Relaxation for People in Recovery.

That's pretty self explanatory. She gives us Yoga postures to do while stating affirmations.
Examples:
Angle Stretch (she uses common names for the postures)
"I forgive myself and my burdens are lifted."

The Camel
"I am open and receptive to life's lessons."

Simple Inverted Pose
"I accept all of my feelings as part of myself".

I pulled the book off the shelf and plan to begin it. I am in desperate need of more balance and physical fitness support.

I got sober January 21, 2007, for 59 days, drank for 12 and have been sober since March 21, 2007.
I feel good about that. There has only been one temptation, and that was this past Saturday. That followed a two month deep funk of depression. It was same ole' same ole'. Wanted to change my feelings. I was out for smokes and got in the lane to go to a liquor store, thought better of it, and came home. I just could not go through with the self destruction. I almost came here to post. But, since I don't actually do the 12 Step program, I wasn't sure I could. And even though I don't, I think this book is beneficial. I think it is something I can get into and follow through. Maybe some of you would enjoy it too.

This group is for all who suffer from addiction.
Alcoholism is one of those addictions.

If this helps anyone who is seeking recovery,
more power to them.

As Bill W. once stated,

" there are several paths to recovery".

:-)

2. Another book I've found helpful
Is Mel Ash's The Zen of Recovery. It works well for those of us who may not be on a mainstream spiritual path. :hi:
