Woo hoo! Four years today!
Since my last drink/drug. It hasn't always been easy, but it sure has been interesting.

I'm bringing the cookies. Who wants to spring for the diet root beer?

4. woohoo!!!!!
I'm going to post this here instead of a PM so everyone can get the info.

4 years is an awesome accomplishment and you deserve lots of :applause: and :yourock:

congratulations!!

now the public service announcement:

somewhere between 4-7 years (depending on whether you were straight alkie or dually addicted to drugs) the body does a final flush of the booze out of your system. Alkies hold the chemical that triggers the craving in our brain fluid and spinal fluid. at some point it will flush back into the blood stream to be finally and completely cleared out of our bodies. That is the good news.

the bad news is that when this happens it will trigger your cravings. the way it felt for me was that my life felt like it just fell apart for no reason, nothing outside had changed but my head was telling me 'life sucks' and 'I should be *better* by now'

luckily I had this information and was able to guard against it. I white knuckled it and did 90/90 again and it passed in a few months, but it was horrible.

we 'lose' lots of people in that 5-7 year range because we don't understand why our heads freak out, but if you know it's coming you can take the actions to just hang on until it passes.

and it passes, I promise. it hit me about 2 months before my 5th birthday. and i just hung on, and by 5 I was stepping out easy.

sorry to hijack your thread Judy, congratulations! you are a miracle!! :bounce:
