1. like they suggested in the Lounge, dear greenbriar
check out Alanon,

http://www.al-anon.alateen.org/

you don't have to do this alone.

2. Sorry to interfere, gb,
and if I may restate, YOU have a problem with your husband who is an alcoholic. To help 'clarify' the terms, see: http://www.lakesidemilam.com/UnderTheInfluence.htm

And you should see alanon. They won't tell you what to do about your husband, but they try to help you live with your circumstances.

3. If your life is hell for speaking of your concerns and your fears,
I believe you have a problem too.

All the suggestions given in the Lounge thread were good advice.

In AA, we are not so inclined to give advice. We are recovering drunks.
So we share our experience, strength and hope with each other in order
to find our way out of our addiction with the help of the steps.

I suggest you try Al Anon and find a good person there to be your sponsor.
A sponsor is just a friend who has been where you are and found some
sanity and peace. Please try it.

It sounds like you need a friend. I'll keep you in my thoughts.

4. What everyone has stated here and
one more strong recommendation to go to Al-Anon.

You learn how to take care of yourself there.

I'll keep you in my thoughts and prayers, gb.

5. I saw your lounge thread
If he is that abusive perhaps there needs to be a police intervention. They may be able to get him into recovery.

Failing that, is there anybody he trusts who could talk to him about his drinking?
