This is when it gets tough for me (I've tried before and made it three months). Colors are brighter. Sounds are clearer. I wake up awake. I feel like one of those "Up With People" types -- I'm high on life. I'm...happy. But then there's that nasty whisper in my head telling me that a drink will make it all even better. Then......

Dumb me, I found some "friends" and came out. Pests. One family friend -- sober almost 20 years -- has the annoying habit of either calling twice a day or sending his wife over "just to visit for a minute." They've even had the most obnoxious idea that my husband or someone else should do the shopping. Good grief, no one goes away. Assholes.

And to them, thanks. I hate you this minute. But I know the score. Hold my hand and pull me out.
