REHAB: a question (cross posted from gd) --thanks
has anyone paid for or known someone who has had to pay for rehab? (if someone pays out of pocket about how much would it be?)

someone i know needs it, wants it, doesn't have insurance

i'm on the phone to a couple local hospitals & rehab centers (but the people who know the prices won't be in until morning)

one place tells me they do detox for 5 days and inpatient for 28 days
another place 2-3 days and then outpatient from then on

i don't know what type of program to recommend (and again the cost)

one place used to have a sliding scale but i was just told with all the cuts blagojevich has made that everything is changing, that a facility has recently closed, etc.

opinions on rehab appreciated

if they are really in bad physical shape, they go to the emergency room and get detoxed by the state and start the merry go round again.

check with your local mental health services. some states have good indigent care, some not so much

edit to add, if your friend is motivated out patient is ok. hell I had no insurance and did it the free way.

I went to AA every day for four months and managed not to drink.
