6. I am a friend of Bill's wife, Lois.
I am no longer an active member of Al-Anon. I joined in about 1978 and lots has happened since then. But believe me, the 12-step program has totally worked in my life. What an education! I learned how to THINK. Remember, you can't keep it if you don't give it away.

I don't understand what you mean when you say you're "stuck". ???

8. I have been "stuck" since the "election" of 2004. I can't talk
"politics" at meetings. I haven't been to a meeting since Sept. or Oct. of 2004. I haven't had a drink. I haven't wanted to drink either. I am terribly distraught over the state of this nation and our world.

I just feel stuck.

18. I've had the exact same problems with meetings since then.
I don't feel stuck, though. I just pretty much quit going to meetings a little over a year ago because I couldn't stand to hear "patriotic" crap. It interfered with my feelings for the fellowship.

I've been thinking about going back, though. I do NOT want to drink again, and stopping meetings eventually causes relapses for some folks, so I'm thinking about returning.

pretty active in the fellowship, for someone who tends to isolate and not trust people... :)

Tex, I've read some of your posts on DU. I hope you keep coming back--meetings must be hard to swallow in red country. Take what you can and leave the rest.

21. Yes
I don't always come over here though, don't know why. Coming up on 16 years, and my hubby will have 24 in April. We are one of those "successful" AA relationships. We've been together for 14 years, and will be married for 13 in April (I always tease him about 13 stepping me)

25. Oh, a lot of kid drama (we are a brady bunch with 4 kids)
But they're all out of the house now. Thank God for AA. We'd run away to meetings sometimes.
And you're right--best friends and lovers. There is no one's company I prefer than my husbands.

34. Bill, Dr. Bob, And Lots Of Others as a matter of fact
owe my life to all those who came before me, and my responsibility is to continue to carry the message. I don't always do that well. But I can tell you that the program works. If it works for me, it can work for anyone.
