Father Joseph C. Martin passed away today.
I first saw his "chalk talks" when I was in rehab for addiction. I know a lot of folks over the years have seen his "chalk talks"

Father, may you RIP. You were truly doing God's work.

1. Godspeed and thank you Fr. Martin.

I was privileged to have met him at Ashley, the rehab he started in MD.
And I went to meetings where he was giving his chalk talks. He was
very compassionate, humble and funny. He loved all of us.

I remember his saying: " Are you happy today? Yes? Well, then tell your face!"

Rest in peace, Fr. Martin.

2. I wish I had been blessed to meet him.
I actually did get to meet Lois W. (Bill W.'s wife). She was incredibly gracious and humble.

4. And the next time the "AA is a cult" discussion starts up

on DU, we can thank Fr. Martin for reminding us that according to Bill Wilson:
"AA is not anyone's religion. It is therapy for alcoholics. Whatever religion
you were before coming to AA, it will simply make you better than you were.
And if you did not have any religion, it will make you a better person too."

In one of Father Martin's chalk talks on youtube he talks about this. I'll try to
find the right link, but I wrote the quote down when I heard it.
