Wow, it's kinda hard to believe. 10 years, hell I remember when 10 hours was a huge victory. We are all different, and we go about staying sober in different ways.
For me two things work. First, I thank the power greater then myself every morning when I open my eyes for giving another day of life. Second, everyone I get to know, knows I am a recovering addict, because I tell them. I spent way to much of my life lying, stealing, and cheating. Now I find these things to be extremely harmful to me, so I chose to live my life honestly. There are times when this doesn't work out well, sometimes the truth hurts, but NO ONE can come to me and say "You lied to me."
I rarely go to meetings, although they do serve a wonderful purpose. I just can't seem to find the time. But like I said, we are all different.
To all of you who have found a way to enjoy your life sober, all I can say is Congratulations. And to those that are searching for it, we are here to help you. It can be done, I and others are living proof. Just remember, 1 minute, turns into 1 hour, turns into 1 day, turns into 3,650 of them.
Love Ya All,
John
