I have been in the rooms for a long time and I simply say: This is not conference approved literature. We don't discuss it here.
You don't get sober and/or sane to act like a wimp. Speak up if someone is pushing literature that is not acceptable.

I came in and sat down and I was told to take my "non approved" books off of the table. I felt awful. I don't think it hurts to be polite. A little sensitivity goes a long way in the rooms, since you never know how hard a place someone else is coming from. :(
