I finally got a sponsor
I had been meaning to ask him awhile ago but he was out of town for a bit.

I was gonna ask somebody else, but at the last minute he got busy.

Last night we ended up at the same meeting and he was right there standing in my face so I asked him.

He said fine, as long as I agreed to do service work - which is no problem.

2. Congratulations - that's a big step (no pun intended!) -
I still remember my first sponsor telling me that making coffee for the group would keep me sober - it didn't make sense to me but I did it anyway. She was right! She also had me make my bed everyday -- that worked too...

Have fun working with your sponsor - that's how this program works - one drunk helping another drunk not take a drink one day at a time.

3. hahahahah
I remember being in my first coupla weeks going through DTs bigtime and they'd say at the meetings that serving coffee and folding the chairs kept you sober

so I'd grab that coffee pot, shaking like a leaf, and the oldtimers would shove their cups two feet from them and say "Just a half a cup honey" cuz I had tremors so bad I could barely hit the cup while pouring. I got smart and started carrying towels with me to mop up spills

:scared:

4. Those were the days!
After I poured a pot of water all over the machine while making (trying!) a pot of coffee, the old timers said "we'll pour our own, thanks!" It wasn't till I had a little bit of time & saw someone else shaking like a leaf trying to pour coffee that I realized WHY they poured their own!

6. Yep - although mostly felt like desparation for a long time!
And "your best thinking got you here so sit down shut up and listen!"
How I hated being told "making coffee will keep you sober" "making your bed will keep you sober" "quit thinking and just do it" -

Reminds me of something else I was told - "It's really simple. You just have to be willing to change two things - everything you think and everything you do!" :wow:
hard to believe we did it, isn't it? :)
