3. not a dumb question. they have these scales in the weigh in room
which are computerized ... (just a sec. let me get a print out of my last weigh in and i'll duplicate here)...Okay, here is one of the ones from the beginning of the program.

TANITA
BODY COMPOSITION ANALYZER
TBF X (i am not going to post my TBF=total body fat--but the Xs represent my TBF)
BODY TYPE STANDARD
GENDER FEMALE
AGE XX (again the print out has printed my age, i am posting it as Xs here)
Height XFt. XIn.
Weight X lbs. x oz.
BMI x
BMR x

IMPEDANDCE
Fat % x
Fat Mass x (i think loss here is where she becomes happy with the loss)
FFM x (i think this means Fat Free Mass)
TBW x
DESIRABLE RANGE
Fat% x
Fat Mass x to x desirable range.

(as you see, i chose not to post the actual numbers of weight in pounds etc., but each of these Xs have a number in the actual print out--not an x).

On Thursday, she did some calculations, using the print out from the previous week, and the print out from this week, and therefore became unhappy. i am not a math person. not a percent person, not a person prone to weigh and measure etc, so i couldn't duplicate here just exactly what was the calculation that she made.

i came home angry and frustrated and wanted to eat whatever i found in my way ... i didn't. i settled for one meager girl scout lemon drop cookie and that was it. i think the two hypnosis' sessions i've had as part of this program helped me on staying focused and sticking to the diet.

i did today break the diet to eat a salad with steak strips in it...however, i cut back on my cafe latte which (although not part of the diet) i have every day...after a month of just those shakes and puddings and bars my stomach was not used to this bowl of salad and it is feeling it.

at the weigh in they usually measure me and tell me how many inches, if any, i have lost around my wasit and hips. They did measure me last week. the girl forgot to tell me and so i don't know.

If i have not explained the beautiful question, please let me know. I'll try to figure out a way to explain it better. o! and thanks for the encouragement. it means a lot!

6. thanks so much for your detailed explanation!
It sounds like they are really up on what's going on with your program, weight loss etc.
You're really on a restricted regime and I sure don't blame you for wanting to fall off the wagon once in a while. I applaud your determination! :applause: You have a lot of strength and desire to make this work ! !

As long as your health is good and you're feeling good, AND the Dr is monitoring your progress you should fare very well. I'm so proud of you! It is encouraging to see people take a hold of their lives and their health.

onward and upward!!

You'll be a wonderful loser :) :yourock:

2. As long as you feel good and there's no medical danger, good for you!
When I lost weight before my back injury I found sometimes weight would just fly off and then other times weeks and weeks would go by with very little loss at all. I didn't worry about it much, I just trusted my body.

5. I was very happy with my weight loss until the back injury
I was doing 30 minutes to one hour a day on my bike and things were going great. Then I got the not so bright idea of lifting a 200lb+ entertainment center out of my mothers basement. Funny thing is I didn't even realize how badly I'd been injured till the next day. I was at the furniture store the next day and all of the sudden I could barely move. I didn't know what was happening to me, I was afraid I was having a stroke or something. I had my husband take me home. I belonged in the emergency room but we didn't have any insurance. It was pure hell for several months. I began to wonder if I was going to end up in a wheelchair. I wondered if I would ever go hiking again. I had to fight really hard not to let depression in because every morning I woke up in pain, I couldn't sleep because of the pain, pain so bad I would sometimes just lie there and quietly cry.

My neighbor who is a message therapist got out some of her books, did some research and gave me some exercises to do. She saved me. I am so lucky to have her.

Long story short, I have to start over with the weight, but I'm quite happy to do so because it's like a new lease on life for me.

Thanks for asking about me. It's nice to have this place where we can all care for each other.

8. i am glad you had a good neighbor who could help with your back.
(and i am sorry to hear you had to suffer with your back pain for any length of time. and, eventhose of us who have any insurances like HMOs are finding out that while we are paying more for their promised coverage these days, they are covering less and less of what they started out to cover...so they are more like band-aid(s) than like insurances covering really important medical care. They may buy us a foot into the hospital's emergency care ... but so much of the cost of what happens there now comes out of our own pockets--and many of us, who should be going to the ER, choose, like you, not to go--or we are told that we need to bring a % of our money up front, or they won't see us...)so, when we have good neighbors who are caring enough, and willing enough to step in and help us, we have in them one of God's small blessings to each of us in our lives journey. (okay, i got philosophical, didn't mean to-could have gotten political as well, but thought this wasn't the thread for that, so let me get back to the weight loss:

a toast to you :toast: and the success of your weight loss...(which i hope you'll keep us posted on, and please, please, please...handle your back with care!)
:)
