Diet enters next stage.... HIATUS!
Well, since January 5, I have lost 40 pounds, but I have been stalled at that point for a couple weeks now. Thursday, I leave for my vacation. I am always very stressed out before a vacation... so much to do to prepare, nerves about leaving my kitties, nerves about thieves (ever since my home was burglarized while I was on vacation a few years back), etc. So tonight, I decided F&%$ it! And I blew my diet! I am sitting here having chinese food and wine. CAN YOU SAY "CARB???" LOL

Now, even when I cheat, I eat a reasonable volume, so that isn't an issue. My plan while on vacation is to make some better choices while not allowing myself to feel deprived, and watch portion sizes. I really don't care if I gain a few pounds on vacation. This is a long term plan to be followed by life-long changes, so going off plan for a week won't kill me.

I am thrilled to be back down to a size I feel reasonably good at, though I still want to drop about another 30. My coworkers have been astounded at the change in my appearance. I just hope I am successful in making it permanent this time.

According to www.mybodycomp.com 's body fat monitor, I have dropped 11 percentage points in my body fat, lost 53.85 inches off of 12 measurement sites, gone down 6.5 points in my BMI, and gone down from "very high risk" to "moderate risk" on my BMI.

I am up to jogging 2 to 2.5 miles at a time. I am not weight training yet. I have been focusing on fat loss through cardio, since it is hard to build muscle on a very restricted calorie diet. after the vacation, I will increase my calories and add weight training to the program.

1. Great news, :)
And I think its okay to go off your diet every once in a while, just as long as its not an overload/OTT amount that you are consuming. Btw, how much did you weigh when you started this? You are jogging quite a bit...I'd be lucky to jog a mile, without stopping...I've never been a runner, even when I was in shape...I just admire folks who have the stamina/lungs to do that....

I am doing very light weight training, 30 pushups a day, three sets of ten...not much, but I just don't want to lose much muscle...I would love to do more, but I have no weights, and I haven't been able to find any that are cheap via garage sale/flea markets...the price new at most stores, are rather high....

2. I'd rather PM you my starting weight!LOL
Maybe it's just a "gender role" habit, but I am more hesitant to share that publicly than the gained/lost number.

4. Dear Pete,
There is no reason to buy weights, just take two milk jugs and add water. You can start out with a couple cups of water in each jug and add to the weight as needed. I forgot how much a quart of water weighs but 'google is your friend' grin , LOL The handles are really easy to grip and not too large for those of us with small hands. You might want to use plain old beach sand, if you don't like the water sloshing around. It's also easy to make several sets. Hope this helps..... grey
