Hey all. I don't post in here much, but I wanted to pass this info along in case it helps anyone.
Ok. First, I'm going to be honest about where I got this. As some of you may know, I am a semi-retired stripper. I post a lot on another board devoted to this profession. Anyway, about two years ago, one of the moderators started using CLA (Conjugated Linoleic Acid) for weight loss. Ever since then, she has been reporting great sucess with it, as have many other ladies on the board. *The really REALLY cool side effect of this, seems to be that a good percentage of the ladies that take it have seen a drastic decrease in their cellulite!!*
There are numerous threads about their experiences, so many that I decided to give it a try to help lose my baby weight and the accompanying cellulite. The general consensus seems to be that Natrol brand Tonalin CLA works the best, although others have had success with different brands. These ladies are also taking a HIGH dose, around 6,000mg a day. I started out at 2400mg and two months ago,and am now at 4800mg a day; and can honestly say that I have dropped at least one, if not two dress sizes (have not measured in the last two weeks, but the jeans I bought two weeks ago are now too loose around my waist); and have seen (by my own estimation) a 50% reduction in my cellulite appearance. To be fair, I am also using the dry brushing method on my thighs and torso for the cellulite, but I am not being able to consistanlty get on the elliptical and treadmill due to husband's crazy work schedule; so I really do not factor that in (I've been only able to go about once a week! GAH!)
As for my diet restrictions, I am not being completely strict with myself. If I absolutely have to have something, I do, but have managed to cut out most fried foods (maybe having some once a week); most heavy sweets; and most soda (maybe one glass a day). I've been eating chicken breast and lean beef, salads, and oat sticks instead of chips. Not much bread at all, and a very small amount of pasta (usually in one dish a week). My BIG thing is lots of water with fresh lemon in it. I'm not sure how much I drink a day, but it's quite a lot; since I always carry it with me.
So, after this long ramble, my point is: I strongly urge anyone who is comfortable with the idea, to try CLA. Of course the stories from my other board are anectdotal, but I have that it really seems to work for quite a few people, so maybe it would be worth a try for someone here. Do your research, check with your doctor if you feel it's the right thing to do, etc; of course.
I have also heard suggested that combining this with GLA (Gamma-Linolenic Acid -Evening Primrose Oil is a great source; or just get an Omega-6) has an even better effect, but I don't know anything about this personally, and you might want to do some research about that.
I really hope this can help someone, it has been great for me.
