My doc is suggesting I go on the Ornish very low fat diet. My cholesterol is not where she'd like it to be, and because hepatitis A left my liver slightly damaged a few years ago, she'd rather I try to bring it down with diet rather than meds. And she thinks I'll be able to do this more easily than a lot of people, because I'm already vegetarian.
And I'm finding I can do it pretty well, but some things are tough. Like cutting out nuts and nut butters, which used to be a major source of protein for me. And eating out, which we clergy do often (many meetings over meals in restaurants) is a real challenge. I'm getting tired of lettuce.
So, I wondered of anyone here is doing Ornish, McDougall, or some other very low fat vegan diet. And how's it going for you?
