If you are someone who is not critical of the quality of food you eat and aren't turned off to "canned" tasting food than Nutrisystems is great. I started the middle of April after following South Beach for the last two years. South Beach was great for my health, my blood levels improved and I lost weight but very slowly. (I have medical issues like PCOS and thyroid which make losing even more challenging)
I decided to try nutrisystems because I needed help with portion control.
I've lost 23lbs in the past 2 months which is more than I lost in the past year on South Beach.
If you can eat Chef Boyardee tasting canned pastas and lots of salads then Nutrisystem can work for you. There is plenty of variety in the food but frankly it's never gonna be gourmet eating.
There is a lot you can do with the required add ins to make it easier and I've gotten use to making lots of salads.
The food sucks but it's working so I've developed the attitude that "It's only fuel and I need to chuck it down" I check off all the daily food as I go along and at the end of the day I'm done. The next day the scale goes down a little more.
I had a hard time wrapping my head around needing the nutrisystem approach. I always thought If I was strong enough, motivated enough, I should be able to do it on my own without the "Frankenfood".
Fuck it...It's working for me.
When I lose the weight I'll go back to eating more of the South Beach way but I'll be use to smaller portions.
