If exercise and diet alone are
not getting your cholesterol levels down and you are more than 30 or 40 pounds overweight. Then your diet and exercise program do not exist. After 15 years on zocor I stopped taking it because of some muscle pain. So, no more excuses. I started a real low fat diet. No red meat, no white flour, no soda and few if any empty carbs. Lots of fish, chicken and fresh veggies and fruit. Got off my butt and slowly started to work out. Ran a mile and a half yesterday and then walked another mile. Two months ago I got out of breath going up the stairs. After a month or two I noticed I had lost 5 pounds. I did none of the above to lose weight. Now it's up to 20 pounds. I don't count calories, only look at fat. I eat all of the time and never hungry. Carrots, apples and herring are my between meal snacks. It's been 3 months so I have to wait another 3 to get my blood work done. In the mean time my blood pressure, I take at home, has dropped from 150/90 to 122/72. I'm 60, 6 ft 4 and went from 250 to 230 and feel the best I have in 15 years.
Have a way to go, but on my way and hope this might help others.
Taking away the meds is what did it for me.

3. Sure feel better
Lost another 5 lbs and a few more points on the BP.
Up to jogging 3 miles now. New goal is to run a 5K. Would have never even dreamed of doing that a year ago. Broke out those old 36 inch waist pants from years ago and they seem baggy now. Feel like 60 is the new 40.
