Accountablity
Most studies show that accountability is a major component of success in any diet or exercise program, so I'm asking if we want to have a monthly thread where we can talk about our triumphs and failures on a daily basis, getting and giving encouragement and techniques to each other and having some pals to help us on our road to a healthy and happy body and mind.

what do you think? anybody up for such a thing? April is starting on Friday and we could all use this week to mentally 'gird our loins' and hit the ground running April 1st

Who's in?

1. I'm in!
:hi:

It's been rough here on the old waistline since the YMCA branch I was going to closed for rennos nearly two years ago. Also, the SO isn't at all on the health/fitness bandwagon, so I need the support.

3. Working out @ home
not real successful at that. I've been better motivated to go to a club with other people, ero the Y. But that's not open to me right now due to finances.

I'm hoping to be able to get outdoors though as the weather warms up, esp in the morning.

4. Been having some of those ups and downs.
Started last may at 250. Diet & exercise. Ended up loving jogging, that's one of those ups. Knees went out, one of those downs. Strapped on braces on both knees today and did 2 miles on the school track and so far so good.
Pretty much lost the last 10 pounds without much exercise. Hit the 200 pound mark yesterday(I'm 6'4"). Goal of 195.
Keeping the carbs down to 60 or less grams/day works the best for me. Lots of green veggies, salads with the fish & chicken. Can't diet and eat out, so I've become a pretty good cook. I do nibble all day. Last time I was under 200 was 1975.

I quit smoking Nov. 2009 after 40 some years of smoking. That was way harder than shedding weight.

Best of luck to every one trying to do it.

5. excellent results!!!
hubby hit 199# today, down from 242 took him 13 months to the day. his goal is 192 so he can say he's lost 50#

i'm not doing as well, but i don't work a job with as much activity as he does and he's MUCH more disciplined diet wise than i am.......but I've still lost 30#, with 20 still to go

6. You hit those plateaus and it
seems impossible to break them.
For me it's not so much discipline as it is just eating the right foods. I'm not all that hungry, except when I pass that fast food place. I've learned to just keep going and get something when I get home.
30 lbs is great. Just pick up a 30 pound bag of something like dog food or softener salt and imagine carrying that around all day. Buying new cloths that fit is fun too.

7. Good idea! :-)
Starting today, my coworker and I decided to do "2-a-days." We're going to the campus field house on our lunch break and after work.

I am frustrated because I have been very good the past week, and haven't lost anything in pounds or inches. So I gotta kick it up a notch!
