As of this week I'm down 66 pounds...
I credit the www.sparkpeople.com program, a free diet/health/fitness site.

I've tried them all, name a diet, I've tried it.
but with Spark's daily food tracker/fitness tracker
and motivating articles,I've done what I thought impossible.

The battle isn't over; I know I'll have to keep going the rest of my life,
but... this isn't bad at all, its working for me.

Pardon me if I brag a bit.

My doctors is overjoyed with my cholesterol/blood pressure/triglycerides
numbers. And I'm up to four miles powerwalking. Me! Not bad for an old lady.

1. That is wonderful!
I am so glad someone came here and reported success. This place has been either downhearted or dead.

2. A Quote from "Monty Python and the Holy GRail..."
"(s)he ain't dead yet.."

And as long as I'm alive.. I'll keep kicking.

Mastering a sense of control over my life thru
Spark by measuring and determining how I will eat/exercise
and thus live... gives great satisfaction.

There are things I cannot control but some things I can!

Thanks for the affirmation.

3. Congratulations
I know how hard it can be to lose - and then to maintain.

Keep up the good work.

4. I am on Sparkpeople too! Congrats on your progress!!!
I hit a 4.5 month plateau and then found out my thyroid was low after several years of keeping in the normal range off meds. After a couple months back on meds, the scale finally started to move again. I am still a couple months behind my goal track, but I am happy to finally be seeing progress.

I just recently got up to jogging 2 miles on the treadmill. I hope to be ready for a 5K by mid August, though running outside in this heat is much harder!!!

5. Yay Lisa!
I understand the numbing frustration of plateauing.

I hit a plateau during the winter when it was too icy for outside exercise...
I then got myself some workout DVDs.. but nothing beats moving outside.

One huge thing I've learned in this process is that this is NOT a diet.
This is a turnaround in lifestyle and life choices.
It's not about denying delicious foods, but everything we do or don't do
contributes or detracts from a healthy life.
Even our attitude.
I've learned to stay away from negativity,
and even in the face of frustration... keep plodding forward.

But SparkPeople is wonderful; I have never had such support or motivation.
Never had such success on many levels.

keep going!

6. Yay!! Congrats!!
It's all about a change in attitude about food, isn't it? I am learning a ton about making better choices, portion control and the satisfaction of exercise. I hope to report a big milestone in the next week or 2 myself! :)

7. Its about a change in attitude about everything!
I tell people: if you join Sparkpeople
and committ yourself to the program,
prepare for a tectonic shift in your life.

It really changes everything:
your view of food and nutrition;
the effect of regular exercise;
the fact that making small changes and decisions can change everything.

Everything: how you deal with others, how you handle stress and challenge,
how you go to bed and get up in the morning: it can be done!

Sounds like I'm preaching the gospel of SparkPeople.

It is it!
