So how do you track food & exercise?

I started off just writing everything in my day planner but since I discovered fitday.com I've been kind of obsessing about it. I was wondering if anyone else was using fitday.com or if you have bought their downloadable program or if you're using anything else?

I'm going for 1500 cal / day this week and see how I do on that. Does that seem high? I feel very comfortable at this level, like I am eating light but not depriving myself, but I'm not sure how well it will work. Fitday says I'm burning about 2500 cal / day with exercise and basal metabolism but I'm just not sure about their measurements yet.

2. I don't really track my food anymore...

I'm like an alcoholic, I cannot think about food all day or I'll go stark, raving O'Reilly. LOL! I do keep track of my excersize though. I just jot it down in my planner... distance, speed, percieved rate of exertion on a scole of 1-10...along with my weekly weigh-in.

I discovered it some time ago, and really liked all that it provided me, and the price was right: free! What is the downloadable program? I didn't realize they had anything like this. How is it different from the free version?

I don't think 1500 cal/day sounds high. To me, it sounds right. You want to be able to stick with your new eating program, and not feel terribly deprived.

other than it's not free. :) They plug it on their site; it's $20. I was just wondering if anyone else was using it. :)

5. I use a PDA. I xfr records to My HealtheVet (large screenshot)

So I can make them available (they're private, I have to give access) to my VA health care team.

A pretty useful resource for veterans. Edit: The screenshot is for vets that want to see what it looks like - that "my care" section doesn't show up unless you are logged in.

6. I just rejoined Weight Watchers Online

and will track my points and exercise there. I don't like tracking calories and I don't like having restrictions on what I can eat -- I never want something more than when I think I can't have it! So after a lot of thought, I think the WW Flex Points plan is the one for me.

8. I track my exercise

on a card at the gym, as well as in the Exercise and Fitness forum here at DU. (I also have a jogger's journal, which I am using to track my progress in running--I'm trying to get faster.)

For my diet, I just ask myself, "Have I followed the rules today?" (I am a gastric bypass patient, and there are "rules" for eating.)

If I have, then I've done well.

If I haven't, I make a note of what I need to work on (and I use my jogger's journal for that).
