Time for Some Andrea Dammit
Edited on Fri Jul-20-07 07:16 PM by ismnotwasm
From the on-line Library;

(I'm kind of pissed off. I have a need to run to base. Andrea is where I go sometimes. This site has enough excerpts to remind me why I get pissed, why I need to continue to fight. No turning back, no giving in.)

I picked something off the page at random, because it's all good.

"Woman as Victim:

Story of O
The Story of O, by Pauline Reage, incorporates, along with all literary pornography, principles and characters already isolated in my discussion of children's fairy tales. The female as a figure of innocence and evil enters the adult world--the brutal world of genitalia. The female manifests in her adult form--c***. She emerges defined by the hole between her legs. In addition, Story of O is more than simple pornography. It claims to define epistemologically what a woman is, what she needs, her processes of thinking and feeling, her proper place. It links men and women in an erotic dance of some magnitude: the sado-masochistic complexion of O is not trivial--it is formulated as a cosmic principle which articulates, absolutely, the feminine."

And while I'm at it, for those of you who haven't read the recent twisty;

1. Damned good idea.
It's time to pull Woman Hating off the bookshelf and do some reading. That was one of the first books about feminism to make a huge impact on me. All these years later I still have that book and go back to it.

2. Thank you
I had to hold myself back from posting a parody DU response along the lines of "I don't think the woman is really the victim in that story ..."

urgh. I am a little frustrated as well, with the state of things. :)
