This Op Ed by Maureen Dowd:
http://www.nytimes.com/2008/04/02/opinion/02dowd.html?_r=1&ref=opinion&oref=sloginReminded me of something I wrote back on February 27th, just after the Ohio debates:
Hillary did just what Ted Strickland told her to do in last night's debate. She come out as the fighter that she really is... for Universal Health Care, for ending the war in Iraq, for revising NAFTA, for creating Green Collar jobs in Ohio. I will keep my paws crossed that Mr. Strickland knows Ohio as well as he thinks he does.
Her tough talk did appeal to ME. It was just what I wanted to see! I even called for it in some of my DU posts yesterday. But, I am not sure how many men could handle it. My own DH seemed mildly put off by it. Not intellectually, but viscerally. I think she hits the "mommy button" for him. That worries me a bit. That said, we both saw this as a strong performance by Hillary. On the issues she was top dog for sure.
But, I have to admit, I also saw the best debate of Barack's career heretofore. After 20 debates, he is learning well from Sen. Clinton.... about how to stick to the issues and cut the Care Bear sing-a-longs. He seems to be delving more deeply into his policies than ever before. In the end, I fear, Hillary has done just what sooooo many women all over this country do: train the men who will become our bosses.
I am heartsick at the prospect that this election is being stolen out from under her.... by the MSM's pandering to Obama. And the party elders (all men) forsaking her. I'm not surprised, tho. It's an old song. If you are a woman, and you have ever trained your future (male) boss.... you know exactly want I mean.
