Interesting that no one made similar assertions when Tom Arnold took a sizeable portion of Roseanne Barr's fortune, after she divorced him for cheating on her with their secretary.

I really dislike that term "gold digger." I hate the song even more. A few that posted in the thread quoted from it. Yuck.

3. I just argued with a fella

who thinks that Heather marrying and divorcing Paul amounted to theft. Crazy. Don't the property owners always howl theft when someone gets a bite. Tell you what, let's set up a different channel for women to enter the propertied classes besides marriage and we'll look into it. Until then, things have a way of evening out, now don't they.

And besides, what the hell does any one person need with a billion-dollar estate anyway? Sounds like it's time for some socialist expropriation to me.

Is that what they called it when husbands of female film stars (in the 30's, 40's and 50's)gambled, drank or otherwise pissed away the fortunes these women earned in films? Money that they frequently trusted these losers to manage for them, because surely no woman would ever be thought worthy to manage her own money in those days. :eyes:

5. There DUers who seem to feel that any alimony award constitutes evidence of "gold digging."

They are vile, pestiferous vermin.

"Alimony? Why, because you need support? How liberated," is one comment (directed toward a female poster who was getting divorced) that I came across back in '06. These are the people I pray never dupe anyone into marrying (or partnering with) them. They have no concept of what the average married couple puts into a domestic corporation, or how much work the female half of opposite sex couples puts into child-rearing if there are children involved.
