I'm one of those people who dislikes "women's magazines" for that very reason. I reached cognitive dissonance with Oprah, her young, beautiful, much photo-shopped face on the cover of her magazine with articles on repairing self esteem, aging, rejecting media images of beauty.

The articles were at least ok, the magazine was full of the same old bullshit ads, (not reaching Marie Clare or Vogue's disgusting levels though) and I truly don't know if the face on the magazine was meant to be irony or not.

And she's on the side of women, isn't she?

Then you have the others, who use women's bodies the way women's bodies have always been used, without apology.

...not sure when you last saw Oprah's magazine, but it's no better than the others. At least the last time I saw it. It's a total contradiction of terms--an article on self-esteem, followed by one about how to lose weight and keep it off(for good this time)! :eyes: Kind of like Glamour and the others, that point out celebrity anorexia, then pages later there's a blurb on "who's getting fat." :(

No offense to any fans of O that are present here.

5. Already signed
Completely fed up. The treatment of women in the media gets more disgusting all the time.
