It's not every feminists cup of tea by any means, but the author does take the word and body image head on in a kind of new agey/third wave but refreshing way. I have to by a new copy, because I gave my old one to my youngest daughter.

Woman: An intimate Geography by Natalie Angier is one of my absolute favorites. She takes on not just body image, but the body itself, exploring each part of a woman's body from a scientific and evolutionary perspective. Very well written and extremely readable. I use it as reference all the time.

3. It's soothing

At least it was for me. I read a lot of books that get my anger going, but her book is more of a validation of all that's truly beautiful about me and my femaleness.. Not that it isn't intense in spots

4. That book rawwks! Funny story.

I was on a plane to Salt Lake City two years ago, reading it. I was in the window seat. There was a large family in the rows surrounding me. Two sisters from the family, who looked to be late teens maybe early 20s tops were in the seats next to me. While we were landing the girl in the middle seat leaned over to me and said, "Excuse me, but is your book called what I think it is?" I laughed and showed her the cover. She and her sister started cracking up and she asked what it was about. I said it was a "womens studies" book and I highly recommended it. She looked at the cover again and said she was going to buy a copy. I hope she did.

I swear, just the stuff Inga Muscio wrote about not being ashamed of your vagina was worth the price.

7. I have to admit

I first bought the book just for the title. I thoroughly enjoy the book itself, but it's a great coffee table book.
I think I'll get my new copy today in honor of "C***s on a plane"

I get real tired of the ewwwww factor when it comes to the word itself, much less what it represents. Fuck 'em.
