I kinda blew my stack out there today
Someone throw a bucket of cold water on me.

Oh how I hated the nasty anti-woman name calling this election. Any woman. Hillary, Palin, doesn't matter, it was never necessary to drag out the C-word, call them bitches, psycho or bimbos. Today I finally just lost it in a thread. But no one gives a shit. Keep quiet and look pretty. I guess the position of women in the movement really is prone.

1. Hang in there, Ellen. It's going to get better soon, I think.
I could say more about that, but it would be against the rules.

2. God I hope so.
But now that everyone has discovered that it's E-Z and fun to destroy women by verbal violation, I hold out very little hope.

3. Gloria Steinem visited her
home state in the 2004 Election and I attended one of the receptions and speeches. She said that sometimes nations go backwards. She had spoken with Teresa Heinz Kerry and discussed when she lived in S. Africa. Teresa watched as the country implemented apartheid...it was horrifying. The US has gone backwards. I've witnessed it in my lifetime.

Now it's as if history is repeating itself...it's Frederick Douglas all over again. He gains the vote then mocks Susan B. And it was 80 years later that the sisters finally got the vote.

I went to our state NOW Conference yesterday...and I mentioned this. Everyone nodded. Women are to be so 'nice' and applaud the accomplishments of others. I'm not nice anymore. I voted for him but I didn't raise a finger to help. He owes Wall Street and Hedge Funds big time. I wish I were hopeful, but I don't think he cares about working women. He likes women who do what he feels is appropriate.

There were no young women at the NOW meeting...but I talked with a professor and she said the young women in her classes don't care if they are called 'girls.' They continued, 'No wonder you aged so quickly, you worry about such trivial things.'

To me language is very powerful. Try calling a black man, 'boy.' I wonder if the C-word is OK with them?

Nations do go backwards...and the 24/7 Media takes them there with there intensive brainwashing and Victoria Secret prime time commercials, etc. etc etc. Maybe in 80 years.....

4. Is the C-word okay with young women?
In a word, yes.

Never mind the subject of the sentence. It's the adjective that's the problem.

And yes, we sure as hell are heading backwards. I thank gawd for these things:

I don't have any daughters
I'm too old to give a shit what boys think of me
I am also too old to be bamboozled by this bullshit
We at least have a newly invigorated gay rights movement. Let's hope a Fourth Wave of feminism takes off too.

I think you are right on the money when you refuse to be nice. It is extremely important that women and gays stick up for themselves or else they'll be trampled.
