Who is your most admired American female? |
|
Inspired by a thread in LBN which discussed a poll revealing Barack Obama as America's most admired man, Hillary Clinton as our most admired female.

I kidding  Most of my most admired are dead. Shirley Chisholm. Barbara Jordan. Bella Abzug. Women of today are too nice, imho or afraid to state the obvious.
Gloria Steinem is still out there and she has held steady to the cause. She encourages women to do outrageous things....and we should.

We've moved into the grand arena and play the game with the rules already in place. And the rules are bullshit. Remember that 'is feminism obsolete' crap a year or so ago? I could scream.

7. Eleanor Roosevelt, Betty Friedan, Helen Caldicott -- Ellie Smeal -- |
|
Susan Sarandon --
Feminists have been so shoved out of the limelight and denied any attention
that it's difficult to say --
C-span, in fact, used to regularly do panels which featured females and their
groups but that's long gone --
Even the women's media group no longer appears on C-span --
I'm not even sure that Ellie Smeal who headed up Fund for the Feminist Majority
at one time is still alive!!
One of the saddest things to see is all the Margaret Thatcher types that have risen
on the rightwing soundstage of horrors!
