I am so amused by the attempts of the anti-equality folks to smear same sex marriage by dragging in the word 'feminist.' Good luck, crazy freaks.

(I used the actual GD link because the responses were actually positive for once; original link leads to Feministing site.)

1. So what's a "feminist marriage?"
One where the wife's individuality is not subsumed by the husband?

Frankly, feminism as an academic discipline is fascinating. It is a whole new way of looking at history and society. And I can see why the present white, Christian, hetero, patriarchal hegemony considers it so subversive.

2. So, they saw two single moms somewhere
who moved in together to share expenses, help each other with babysitting, and do some co-parenting because they and their kids get along well. The religion right sees this and, of course, thinks this is an abomination. Call it a movement and blame feminism! How dare they live without dependence upon men!

It sounds like a colossal overreaction to me.

3. What's sad to me, though, is that this tactic suggests anti-feminism might actually be as widespread
as homophobia. At least in the eyes of the religious right and the followers they want to scare this way. Awful.

5. When any movement becomes widespread and has an impact
a backlash movement forms. So, of course anti-feminism is widespread. In a way, we should be flattered that they feel the need.

It just means that we need to keep up the pressure.
