GUTI CALLS FOR THE RAFALUTION
Daily Mirror 18 June 2005
Real Madrid star Guti has declared himself ready to join the Spanish exodus at Anfield.
The glamorous midfielder was earlier this week pictured greeting Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard as the pair bumped into each other at an exclusive Spanish beach resort.
Guti has been tracked by Rafael Benitez for months after it became apparent that Madrid were willing to release their highly-rated midfielder.
The 27-year-old has admitted that he was flattered by interest from Liverpool, Arsenal, Juventus and AC Milan. However it is the Premiership that appeals to Guti and Liverpool have the advantage over their Premiership rivals because of their strong contingent from Spain, and Guti hinted yesterday that he is open to an offer from Anfield.
Guti said: "There is nothing concrete but I have always said that if I left Madrid, I would like to play in the Premiership. The English league is ideal. I have a contract with Madrid until 2008 but it is true that I hope to start a new period in my career at another team."
