Friends across the pond, talk to me about Man City.

I have been a fan from afar of Man City for several years ... simply because Man U. is so damn good and Man City had been relegated to playing second fiddle for so long.

Few weeks ago read that Man City had signed star Carlos Tevez of Argentina and had spent millions of euros to upgrade the team. Tevez scored his first goal the other day and was wondering what is being said about the possibility of Man City surging to the top ranks of the PL. For me it would be nice to see that.

Speaking of Argentina, there is a biggie coming up the weekend in LatAM. World Cup qualifier between Argentina and Brazil in Cordoba, Argentina.

Argentina is okay still in the standings under the leadership of Diego Maradona (his detractors in Argentina call him Maradrogas --Maradrugs) but a loss to Brazil would leave Argentina in a somewhat delicate position to qualify for the WC, as hard as that is to belive.

1. There has never been a better time.

I could not possibly imagine a more exciting time to be a fan of Manchester City. Certainly not since the late 60s/early 70s team of Book, Bell, Summerbee and Francis Lee.

Potentially the sky is the limit. There is literally no club on the planet that can currently outbid Man City for a player. I think that first trophy, or possibly Champions League qualification this year, will be the catalyst for a quite possibly polar-shifting transfer window at the end of the season. It will be a transfer window that will cause shock-waves in the halls of Old Trafford, Stamford Bridge, The Emirates and Anfield. City already have the cash (and, boy, oh boy, do they have the cash) if they can offer Champions League football as well, then they will be immensely attractive to the games superstars.

Of course, football is not logical. Mark Hughes still has to ensure a successful season this year, or the City project will be knocked back for a year or so.

Very solid start to the season for City. Things are looking very rosy at Eastlands.

2. Belated thanks Lord T. M. for the overview of Man City

Very helpful because had seen only bits and pieces of news on Man C. Will be very interesting to see how team does this season.

ESPN2 has begun showing a couple of English PL games twice a week here in the States (yea !!)

Fyi Robinho played in Brazil's 3-1 drubbing of Argentina on Saturday and suffered some sort of injury that required MRI. Robinho will be out for Wednesday's World Cup qualifier match with Chile. Tevez played for Argentina but was not a factor and was subbed in the second period.

Argentina is in a near panic now and has a very tough Paraguay coming up on Wednesday in Asuncion. Brazil is in, Chile and Paraguay have a foot-and-a-half on South African soil with three matches remaining.

Argentina is in a free-for-all with Ecuador, Uruguay, Colombia and even Venezuela for 4th and 5th place. (Top four qualify, and fifth must play a home-and-away with fourth-place finisher in CONCAFA (Central and North America qualifiers.) USA, Honduras, Mexico and Costa Rica fighting it out in CONCAFA.

Btw, Colombia beat Ecuador on Saturday in Medellin, Colombia. At a victory party at a park in Medellin, some idiots were passing around a live grenade and sure enough, someone pulled the pin. Two dead, 47 wounded. Colombian cops saying it was not a "terrorist" attack, but a reward is being offered for information on why a civilian had a live grenade. :shrug:

3. No problem

City won again at the weekend, beating Arsenal 4-2. Most of the headlines have been about Adebayor kicking an Arsenal player in the head, and running the whole length of the pitch to celebrate a goal in front of the opposition Arsenal fans, which didn't exactly endear him to them! Still, another impressive result for City.

Next Sunday at Old Trafford should be most interesting.
