I'm forwarding this to all the soccer/football fans to ask you to sign onto the USA Bid Committee's petition (see link in article below) to FIFA to have the 2018/2022 World Cup games in the US. A long way off, I know but the decision will be announced by the end of the year.
http://gousabid.com/FIFAvisitThe Decision
In December 2010, soccer’s governing body—the Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA)—will select the countries that will host the 2018 and 2022 FIFA World Cup™.
FIFA has received confirmations of interest from ten potential bidders, including the USA, to host one of the two tournaments. The other countries currently in the process of bidding for the event are:
Australia (2022)
Belgium-Netherlands
England
Japan (2022)
Qatar (2022)
Russia
South Korea (2022)
Spain-Portugal
* Mexico officially withdraw from bid activities on September 29, 2009. Indonesia withdraw at the beginning of 2010.
Before voting, FIFA’s Executive Committee will visit each of the sites to confirm that the bidding country meets the requirements to host the event. Ultimately, the host countries are determined based on votes from the FIFA Executive Committee members. Here's the email I got today.
Please sign onto the petition and FORWARD THIS REQUEST to each and every one of your friends and relatives with an interest in the sport. If you do this in the next 10 minutes, Blessed Pele and St. Clint of Fulham will reward you in some magical way! LOL :-p
ASAP, please.
Thanks!
Nancy

Subject: FIFA is coming to the U.S.
Nancy --
One week from today, FIFA is coming to the U.S. to evaluate our World Cup Bid up close.
This is a huge opportunity to make our best possible impression, so we need to go all out to show them just how much we want to host the FIFA World Cup™.
Right now, we have 981,000 supporters of our Bid. We're so close to exceeding our initial goal of 1 million -- but we need your help to get there before FIFA arrives.
I know I've asked you to spread the word about the Bid before, but with FIFA coming in just one week, now is the most important moment to take action. Tell everyone you know to sign the petition now:

FIFA is sending a six-person inspection team to tour several of the stadiums and facilities that are part of our Bid. After their visit, they'll report back to the FIFA Executive Committee, which is responsible for selecting the host nations to both World Cups.
When the FIFA team arrives, I don't want to tell them we have 990,000 or 995,000 supporters -- I want to tell them we have more than 1 million. Then there will be no doubt in anyone's mind that the Game Is In US.
With your help, I know we can get there. Tell everyone you know about our Bid, and help us make our best impression on FIFA next week:
