Jonathan Baldwin, 6'5", 228 lbs., Wide Receiver, Pittsburg.
Selected by: Kansas City Chiefs
Round: 1
Pick (Overall): 26 (26)
Jonathan is a huge target with phenomenal leaping ability. He was first in vertical jump among all receivers at the 2011 NFL scouting combine. He also has exceptional catching ability and hands, a quality the Chiefs have been looking for. He never fumbled the ball in college. He needs to polish up his route running according to a number of sources. He has deceptive speed clocked at 4.5 in the 40 yard dash at the combine but local sources have reported 4.4 time in the past. The Chiefs sorely needed another good target at the receiver position and Baldwin has everything he needs to become a pro-bowl receiver in the NFL.
He has had some "character issues" in the past including being charged with "misdemeanor indecent assault" in 2009, a charge that was dropped. KC Star and others have reported on this being an about face for the Chiefs who had the reputation of only selecting players with good character. Lets remember that he was not found guilty of anything and even if he was, people do change. Everyone deserves the chance within reason.
My take on rounds 2-7 coming soon...
