Edited on Sat Dec-29-07 11:34 AM by JitterbugPerfume
I have had "them" off and on ignore for years, but occasionally take "them" off just to see what "they" are being negative about now!

By the way--thanks for that thread It is excellent advice, even for a retired old woman on fixed income.(me)

edit--my goal this year is to be credit card free . I am well on my way too!think before you buy is good advice.

3. I am totally credit card free and have been for a year now. It sure
is nice being able to have cash to spend at the dollar store for what I NEED, not WANT.

4. Learning the difference between what you need and what you want
is the biggest step to managing your money responsibly. One of the "mommy tapes" I have running through my head that I'm most grateful for is "It's not a bargain if you don't need it."

I've lived without a credit card since 1991, the year they got deregulation through and started charging six kinds of junk fees. I haven't missed it.

2. The new year is always a great time to take a good look at spending habits
I'm doing some early spring cleaning and getting a handle on my craft and sewing supplies. Cleaning/organizing has uncovered some items I thought were lost and needed replacing. Not a biggie but I'm happy to take this "census" of what I have to work with. It's narrowed down my shopping list considerably. Being disorganized would have lead me to excess spending.

5. I just posted in that thread
to both you and your initial detractor. I think it is very sound advice, indeed! I refuse to be a debt slave any longer. Life's too short to live with that kind of worry all the time.

Thanx! :hi:

6. The negativity came from
the fact that most of us know all of this already and some interpreted the tone as somewhat condescending. I didn't contribute to the thread either way.
