1. Glad you brought this to our attention. Idea: How about a topic
that, by rules, is a weekly list of "What's on Sale" posted by members. A lot will be regional but certainly a lot will be of a national scale. We're going to need to help each other folks, passing along tips like the one above is great. We need to force the stores to make it easier to get a rain check too. I've been to stores and been told that I item I need sold out immediately---15 minutes after opening. Sure!

3. Great idea!
These days, every little bit helps...

It seems like Walgreens is one of those "always sold out" stores -- I've been there on Sunday (the day the ad comes out/sale starts) and they are sold out of many of the items!

5. Precisely
And I believe as the cost of shipping increases you will see more "out of stocks" at store level. Stores built in the last 10-15 years are designed with the concept of "just in time" inventory and quick replenishment by either a vendor or from the local distribution center. As restock loads are cut back due to fuel cost increasing (I have already seen this at the store for which I work), you will see "out of stocks" rise as there isn't much room in the back to store additional inventory for the ads. Get the "rain check" and use it (they can also be extended by the store's management, if needed) or get them to substitute a product of equal value. Be nice to the people that work there, but don't back down because they are out of something that is on their ad.
