Free Shampoo, toothpaste, etc
I've been participating in Walgreens and RiteAid rebate programs for several years. Every month their offers include full purchase price rebates on products like shampoo, conditioner, toothpaste, makeup, vitamins and much more. Walgreens just added the capability to claim your rebate on line which Riteaid has offered for as long as I've been doing this. Walgreens offers a 10% bonus if you take your rebate in the form of a Walgreens gift card. That usually covers any sales tax and postage. If you don't have a Walgreens nearby, you can make your purchases on-line with free shipping if your order is over $50 - but I think you have to mail in the rebate form for on-line purchases.

Last night I bought the Pert Shampoo for $3.99, used a $3 coupon on it and will get back the full $3.99.

If you don't use the products yourself, you can donate them to a homeless shelter or food bank.

1. Thanks for the info!
I've been doing the Walgreens rebates, but didn't realize you could do them online now.

If you sign up for Walgreens emails (they don't send an obnoxious amount), about once a month you will get a one-day-only $5 coupon if you spend $20. Combined with coupons, sales and rebates, I've been able to get lots of items free or very, very cheaply.

2. I love the Walgreens and RiteAid rebates
I just can't believe some of the things you can get for free. With five kids and four grandchildren I stock pile some of the stuff and it gets used as presents if it is something that seems appropriate. I didn't know that Walgreens now has online rebate redemption, I will have to check on that. That is the one thing that I really missed with them. It is so easy come come home and enter my receipts on the computer for RiteAid every week. I can't believe that more people aren't using this great way to get free items. Plus like you, I always try to use some coupons also so actually they are paying us to take it away! Walgreen register reward receipts are great also. It seems that I am picking up more of my food items there lately as their coupons and register receipts offers have been better than the grocery stores.

3. I just discovered the on-line filing too !
I always liked that RiteAid offered it and was thrilled to find out that Walgreens has it now. Just had to share that with other frugal folks !

4. Instead of buying liquid hand soap refills, use cheap shampoo. Look
at the cost per ounce to see the savings. Also dish soap is just fine for soaking dentures.

5. Speaking of soap dispensers...
I have several hand and dish soap dispensers. When the soap gets too low to squirt, add a little water and shake. FOAMY soap. Guess it would work right off the bat too, but I don't know the ratio of soap to water. I just do it when my containers are really low.

Using cheap shampoo is a great idea - thanks for the suggestion! I will for sure use that little trick. Heck, soap is soap, eh? :hi:
