Energy, the local branch in York, PA, stating they could provide our natural gas service via UGI for around 1 cent less per unit at a locked in price till November 2011. We don't use much gas - we have a wood pellet stove and use the gas furnace only as a back up, but I checked the company by googling their name with the word "review" after it. We found pages of horror stories from customers who were billed for services never provided, of days-late or no show service calls on people with no heat, of over-billing, poor service, bad attitude and rudeness and refusal to refund a credit of over $250.
I certainly don't plan to change gas companies, but I wanted to pass this warning on to everyone here: please investigate any company who promises any service at a greatly reduced price or makes some claim that seems hard to believe - the internet is a great tool for consumer complaints and checking on a company's performance record.
FWIW.
