Hemlock polysilicon plant in TN
Why here? No unions and tax breaks for businesses. 2 edged sword but hopefully the price of solar panels here in the states will drop.
Can't say that I like the title "hemlock"..hopefully the emissions aren't as poisonous as the plant (oops, no pun intended) :eyes:

1. The article says it's to be located in Clarksville, Tennessee
That's about 68 miles away from Smyrna, TN the future site of Nissan's US factory to build the Nissan Leaf.
For the first few years, the Nissan Leaf will be built in Japan. But Nissan has been granted $1.6 billion of low-interest loans by the U.S. Department of Energy to create a manufacturing facility for lithium-ion cells and retool its Smyrna, Tennessee, assembly plant for assembly of up to 150,000 Leafs a year.

Some lucky few are going to be living right between those two locations. Perhaps they can work in the factory making solar panels that will make the power for their Nissan Leaf. Or they can apply at the Smyrna factory making the Leafs. The 100 mile range of the Leaf would not be perfect for all Americans -- only about 90% of them.

Just a thought...

BTW, here is a tie in from The Monkeys, circa 1968:
"Take the last train to Clarksville and I'll meet you at the station. We can leave here by 4:30 'cause I made your reservation. Don't be slow. Oh, no no no."
