Has anyone tried making over a Quonset Hut to a home?
We have 30 acres with 2 barns and this good size Quonset Hut. No house as the house had been destroyed by a fire 8 years ago and was left open to the elements here in NYS. We were wondering if it would be worth converting the Quonset.

1. I live near Quonset
There is at least one Quonset hut in my small community that has been a home for decades. I've never been in it, but it's been occupied all that time. Man, I'd love to live in a Quonset hut.

3. When I was a kid our neighbors had one
I LOVED IT!

Do the basics...spend money on insulation...

I am envious. Good luck!

Here's one site that shows you the possibilities: http://www.squidoo.com/the-coolest-quonset-hut-homes

5. Quonset Huts are good outbuildings too
We've been looking at them as a way to have our own workshops. A commercial kitchen for me, an electronic workshop for him. They are cheaper to build than angular buildings.
