Boy, did we find a steal. Really. We went to a tag sale in our rural area. I noticed a pile of wood and some thing by it somewhat assembled. It was $5. I asked about it and it was an old handmade radio cabinet that had set in a barn for years. We bought it and drug it home. I spent two weekends cleaning the dirt of the ages off of it with wood cleaner and then we set about figuring out the jigsaw puzzle that was this cabinet. Wood glue and finishing nails in hand we painstakingly reassembled it with as many parts as made sense. I think we are missing a couple, but it was upright and ready to go. The next step was to rub it down with tung oil to restore the finish. The sliding doors are on wooden tracks, but the work. It is absolutely beautiful and we now use it as a storage cabinet for our sterio. It fits more with our decor in this older house than the glass case on wheels from our old more modern home. I'm getting compliments on it.
A little elbow grease and love go a long way.
