I'm going to be lazy and just post my fave site for this:
http://organizedhome.com/TONS of tips, charts, and my BIG thing: a Household Notebook. Tip for that too--check into their printable one, but I ended up creating 4/5 notebooks from that one and keeping a main one for the important info (check the forums for more tips on this). Their sister site with the Christmas Notebook is cool also; lots of printable lists to keep up with your gifts and online orders and also a bunch of labels. Even a cheap idea for a gift: a jar with different sayings/things to do you can print out for every day of the year. This site also lead me to print out lists for a home inventory for my home insurance and starting on a living will.
Believe it or not, my second fave place to find some decent organizing and frugal tips is
http://www.marthastewart.com/ Really. If you look around on the site and check her tips for homekeeping and etc. you will find lots of checklists and charts for laundry, stocking a pantry, easy (and cheap!!)ways to fix small things around the house, etc. Check the Good Things columns and you will be surprised at the wealth of info. Since they also discontinued the online store, it isn't as commercially "pushy" to buy alot of things (except the mags.)
I ended up printing out some of her charts for each section of my house (linen closet, laundry room, etc.) and making a small notebook for each which I keep in each relevant room to help me remember, for example, how to store my winter/summer linens and the most economical way to fold them to get the most room in the closet. The laundry one is helpful to reference for stain problems and ironing tips; etc.
Third fave site:
http://www.bhg.com/Tips, checklists and LOTS of info about how to correctly stock a kitchen and cook. They have a Tools & Guides section on the left menu (after you pick a topic from the tabs up top) The best feature is that they give you garden reminders about what to plant this season and when according to your zone; all that info is accessible right there also.
