Help, anyone have any experience with roof soffits?
I think rain is getting in where the birds have made a nest inside the enclosed soffits. I know I have to get it fixed, but I wonder if I should get vented soffits for my roof. It seems like moisture is getting in my uninsulated attic, and ice gets built up on the roof. Would the vented soffits help that?

1. We replaced our old wood soffits with vented vinyl ones
The venting keeps temps better in an attic. Cooler in the heat of summer. They also prevent moisture problems. Not all our soffits have vents. They put vented ones every so many feet all around the house.

This is what I can remember. Hope it helps!

3. you can but bags of cellulose insulation and they will let you check out
machine that blows it in... even a few inches will help and you can put more in later when you get the money.. do you have vents on both ends of the attic..?? ventalatin is essentual, our attic gets over 160* with vents in the summer... they have vents that open and close, and a fan with a thermastat that blows out the heat in the summer and the vents are like dryer vents that are normaly closed, but you can set them open.

if you are renting maybe the land lord will let you deduct the expense.
