Is it considered offensive to Muslims if a Christian wears a hamsa/Hand of Fatima necklace?
I saw a young Asian woman wearing one her boyfriend sent her from northern Africa and thought it was beautiful. So I have one as well, from Israel. To me, as a Christian, I wear it because it symbolizes the hand of God upon my life, and it expresses my desire for peace among the children of Abraham.
My childrens' pediatrician is Muslim and I've noticed that she's noticed my wearing it, as well as a few other Muslim women I've encountered in my day to day activities (shopping, etc). They've never said anything to me about it but it's clear that they've noticed my wearing it.
I certainly don't want to offend anyone by wearing it, so in my ignorance I am asking for guidance. I mean no offense.
Thanks.
