Lawyers’ Committee Hosts Two Disaster Relief Community Workshops for Hurricane Survivors in Gulfport (5/31) and Biloxi (6/1)

Gulfport, May 31st

The Disaster Relief Community Workshop
When: 9:00am to 5:00pm on May 31st
Where: The Isaiah Fredericks Community Center, 3312 Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd., Gulfport

On Wednesday May 31, 2006 the Lawyers’ Committee for Civil Rights Under Law and the Mississippi Center for Justice will be conducting a community workshop from 9-5 to assist Hurricane Katrina survivors. The workshop will cover a multitude of issues facing survivors, such as obtaining FEMA benefits, private loan programs, the FEMA appeals process, landlord-tenant issues, insurance claims, employment, housing vouchers, home repair, and mortgage forbearance and foreclosure. Volunteer attorneys and SBA officials will be present at the workshop to answer any questions participants
may have. Free phones will be available for participants who need to contact FEMA.

Participants should feel free to bring any disaster relief-related questions as well as paperwork, letters from FEMA, lender information and insurance claims.

Biloxi, June 1st
