Questions for hurricane survivors

Hello Gulf Coasters,

What can we do now? There seems to have a big drop off in media coverage and people helping the coast recover from Katrina. Even I have not wanted to think about it, been busy dealing with everything else including cutting downed trees off my shop and road after our big windstorm last month. Which made me think more about you friends down in LA/MS/TX still living in poor conditions.

So, "don't forget us" is what I have heard. I haven't, though I tried to ignore you for a while and apologize. I have written and contacted legislators, and the MS place intheflow posted about grants and loans. I cannot come volunteer as I am trying to keep up with bouncing checks and the credit cards are too full with no relief for that in sight. Again I apologize as I need to take care of here, I am my own priority. But you run a close second so what can we do? What can I do?

Organize and send more volunteers? Contact people in Power? Send socks and toys? Adopt a family? Reissue the invitation to come visit though I imagine your finances are in poor shape also? Send more regular emails saying hi how are you? Post more here? I don't want to assume, can only do what I imagine I would wish were the situations reversed.
