I donated to Red Cross (usa) pre-Katrina and while I met some really great volunteers, was not happy with the use the organization made of donations and people. Salvation Army was there faster, were more helpful and willing to give stuff and food. So, here are links I found to them. If anyone has others, please add them.

The Salvation Army seeks monetary donations to pay for the services it will provide when Hurricane Ike hits and to cover the costs of Hurricane Gustav that are still left unfunded, the non-profit organization announced in a press release. The local Salvation Army spent $40,000 a day to give people free meals at 17 shelter locations throughout the Metroplex during Hurricane Gustav; however, it received few donations at the time. To donate, visit www.salvationarmydfw.org and go to the online form where donations can be marked for "DFW Emergency Relief." Donated goods are not sought for disaster relief. Monetary donations enable The Salvation Army to buy the specific items needed to help the evacuees
