Well, they did it again. They hired a former chain restaurant manager. I had both the old and new one at my site today. Dining rooms, health assessments, hand-holding and home delivered meals for seniors has nothing to do with running a restaurant.
Yes, food safety, cleanliness, proper temps, are related elements and I am scrupulous in those areas - but I caught holy hell for- in a discussion about portioning, telling them that last week -on my day off(unpaid)- I went in to help my job sharer - and seeing how skimpy the lunch was, went out and got a loaf of bread. (I didn't tell him that I also bought a package of cookies to go with their pudding). While I was getting reamed out, one of our clients protested "She's just looking out for us".
Later, I got a phone call from Mr. Outgoing about a paperwork issue (his way vs. the way that's accurate and simpler to track). When I said "I don't know why having it be correct(though generated by me) is a disadvantage", he said "It is and I don't have to explain it to you."
They are also advertising for another site manager for another location and are stating a salary range that exceeds what I make. I'm in my sixth year.
Excuse the rant. It's been a crappy day all round. But now you know a little bit about why I wanted a different kind of boss - for the clients as well as myself!
