SCRUBDASHRUB (1000+ posts) Fri Dec-21-07 10:41 PM Original message Karma's a bitch Edited on Fri Dec-21-07 10:43 PM by SCRUBDASHRUB I hope I'm not wishing any bad karma on myself, but I just have to tell this true story. Just found out this information tonight.
As some of you may know, in January, after working for a company for only 4 months, I was let go with no warning and for no reason (live in an at-will state; reason given was "not a good fit."). I had left a job I'd been at for seven years to go to a place that promised career growth, stability, etc. It's a long story, but I think what wound up happening was someone else in the dept. had been offered the position before I got there, declined and then changed her mind. I found out later that they wound up hiring someone pretty much straight out of college to replace me (someone with 14 years of experience in my field). The woman who fired me didn't even say goodbye to me, and I'd known her for at least 8 years prior to working for her.
I was out of work for 5 months (thank G-d for unemployment), and have been working since June for this cool company (renewable energy).
Anyway, I rarely watch the local news at 10 PM, but tonight, I decided to check it out.
The woman who fired me was being featured because some young kids broke into her house and stole all of her Christmas presents...$3,000 worth. When I was working there, I was not allowed to take off the day after T-giving, due to "seniority". I remember her telling me how she loves to get up really early the day after T-giving to go shopping.
Is it wrong for me to feel, how do I put this, somewhat snickery that this happened to her? She wasn't hurt, thankfully, but she really fucked me over big time.
