Cold Fusion/Dreamweaver Developer in D.C. Area

I'm seeking a position as a Cold Fusion/Dreamweaver developer. I have eight years of experience with CF using Oracle and Sql Server. I have participated in all areas of the System Development Life Cycle. I do not have a Government high level clearance at present, but have obtained them in the past. I have been a Government contractor or employee for over 20 years.

I'm looking for a position primarily in the Northern Virginia area.

Any help with this would be most appreciated! I am grateful for the timely introduction of this forum. I'm listed on Dice and Monster and also I'm looking at WashingtonPost.com. If anyone has any suggestions on another place to look, please PM me, thanks, and let me know.

1. No advice on where to look but advice on how to use monster

Make sure you go in and update your resume routinely. (You don't actually have to change it but refreshing it brings it back to the top of the pile.) Also, get your keywords on your resume in many places - this will make your resume come back as more relevant in search terms. If you can, bullet point your relevant technologies in a summary at the top of your resume and then again under each job you used them in. From an automated search perspective, this works.

(I get calls almost every day from companies that found me on monster.)

PS - the word up here in Mass is that CF is out and .Net is in. If you can pick up a course on .Net, you could be in a good position to help companies make the transition between the two - I had someone call me for a position just like that but I didn't have enough CF experience.

I have been getting some regular ASP experience to refresh my VB knowledge for that reason for the last six months and I believe you are right about the private market, however, here in Federal Government-land Cold Fusion is still pretty hot. As this post will attest:

4. I Got Three Hits on The OPM Web Site

when I searched on "Cold Fusion" for IT jobs in Washington, DC. All are upper-level jobs, paying from about $77k to about $114k.

6. I just wanted to close out this thread happily

to say I got a position with a Not for Profit Association. It has excellent benefits and is not too far a commute. The pay is a little lower than I would have liked, but the benefits make up for that and there's free parking as well. Also it has a 35 hour work week.

I don't have to work as a contractor for the federal government anymore either.

Good for you on the not-for-profit gig, too. Hopefully you'll feel you are truly contributing to something worthwhile now instead of just being another cog.
