2. There were probably out of time anyway.

Just because Carol Lin said she was ending the segment because they weren't answering the question doesn't mean there wasn't a commercial break scheduled.

3. Yeah, four whole minutes.
And that moron (was that Bush's nephew?) monopolized more than his share with puerile foolishness.

How long were the other segments of this show?

9. Yes, I was being sarcastic.
My point was that whether or not a commercial was scheduled, they alloted approximately four minutes for this discussion. I guess I'm frustrated because I'm accustomed to Amy Goodman, who allows her guests to examine an issue in depth, without resorting to sound bites that give very little information.

This is not accidental. It is much easier to keep the casual viewer interested (and buying the products that they promote) with quick technical events that convey no real information. No back ground. No depth. It doesn't matter to me how long the other segments were. This has nothing to do with "balance."

I've lost my patience with these people. They are not concerned about informing the public, which should be their role. They are more concerned with making money - which oddly enough is in tacit agreement with the grinning twit - "what's wrong with making money?" When the future of democracy is in question in order to allow them to make their thirty pieces of silver, I get pissed.

To quote another poster this evening "When did CNN become Fair and Balanced?"

18. I think that the piece, as short as it was, was damaging to Republicans.
Edited on Sat Apr-22-06 10:09 PM by drm604
People saw an obvious Republican mouthpiece defending high gas prices! This would have been damaging even without Mike being there. And Mike did very well considering the time limit and format, he got across some important points.

And somebody should say something to that Repub snot about his toupee!

23. Ben Ferguson is only 25, so you're probably right.
When I was watching CNN, I assumed it was a rug, but finding out afterward that he's 25, it's probably his hair.

22. I expected more
from Carol than that. It wasn't even worth coming down to the studio for that piddly airtime.

As a rule, generally I like her most of the CNN manure spreaders. But she sure disappointed me with her handling of this tonight.

24. She probably wasn't ready for the answers from either guest.
I doubt she was expecting Ben Ferguson to say that high gas prices are an acceptable result of waging war on terror, or for Mike Malloy to say that Bush's foreign policy is "criminal."

27. Maybe next week, someone can time the segments
of "CNN Saturday Night," and we'll know whether she actually shortened the segment or not.

Or if someone TIVO=ed tonight's show, this could be resolved tonight.

28. If those short and lame segments continue,
CNN Saturday Night will wind up with sagging ratings. It was that bad.
