How Bush Dodged 4000 Protesters (Santa Rosa Press-Democrat)
Edited on Sun Apr-23-06 01:34 AM by redacted
Published: Saturday, Apr 22, 2006

President Bush made a stealthy arrival in the Napa Valley on Friday, avoiding protesters as his motorcade took a little-used mountain road to a St. Helena resort for an overnight stay.

Thousands of noisy demonstrators had gathered along the Silverado Trail to voice their displeasure or support for the president, and local residents had gathered at a St. Helena school hoping his helicopter might land nearby.

But after several hours of anticipation, the president arrived by helicopter just before dark at the Angwin Airport. Lights from the president's 27-car motorcade snaked south along Howell Mountain Road about 8:30 p.m., disappearing after the 7-mile drive into the exclusive Meadowood resort, where suites can cost as much as $4,000 a night.

By then, a crowd estimated by the CHP at 2,000 and by protest organizers at 4,000 had dwindled to a few hundred diehards.

4. Will we ever have a President who doesn't have to sneak around back roads,
or keep his ininerary secret because so many people HATE HIM?

Dear God, I am sooo ashamed of this idiot!

9. I've driven that road, and it's HELL
Edited on Sun Apr-23-06 01:31 AM by redacted
Some motorcycle riders actually like it, but in a car it's a pothole-riddled, very bumpy and slow trip with hairpin turns. Locals generally use other roads in the area that aren't as narrow.

One can only imagine what kind of jarring ride it was in an armor-plated, bullet-proof limo, let alone in a monster SUV.

10. The man who can't even face his own citizens
purports to be the bringer of freedom and democracy to the world.
He's just a freakin' "macho idiot", blue blooded, imbecilic coward.
IMHO of course.

12. IMHO also, of course! He is such a loser, has
never had a successful venture in his entire life, and now he's messing with the entire lives
of Americans? Sorry; get rid of these assholes. They are bringing damage to our/my country! And my heart hurts.

13. "...to voice their displeasure or *support* for the president..." ???
(emphasis added)

I'd like to know just how many of those 4,000 NORTH COAST protestors were there to show "support" for Bush!

Typical of that craprag, the "Santa Rosa Press Democrat"--owned by the lying, deceitful, treasonous, war-mongering New York Times--both of them a disgrace to journalism.

18. Cheney did that last week, too
This must be their new tactic....not let bush or cheney see the protesters. That way, they have no idea that anyone disagrees with them.

Cheney came to Spokane last week. They moved his arrival at the hotel forward so he could come through before protesters arrived. (He was scheduled @ 5 pm; they drove him in at 3:10). Then, afterwards, they keep protesters a block away...right on his departure route. At the last minute all the motorcycles and vehicles flipped a U-turn away from the protesters. He therefore came and went without seeing any dissent. There were 500 protesters, and less than 100 republican donors at his fundraiser, yet he had no idea that those 100 republicans don't represent the public.

Since when do we pay taxes for law enforcement to protect our leaders from dissenting ideas?

20. Right Diane. And the taxes that pay for those decoy chopper landings?
And pay for the school buses and Ryder trucks that were lined up as barriers (see the article). Isn't that a lot of money going into decoy tactics ("practice landings") and disinformation? When did we ever hear of Clinton's choppers performing "practice landings" at multiple sites to avoid angry crowds?

21. MSM dampens footage coverage of Bush avoiding protestors
Santa Rosa, Stamford even when Cheney got booed at ballgame throw-out pitch, on Cheney they showed footage deleted background loud booeing from the crowds with a voice-over from the announcer simply stating "Cheney threw out a pitch today...

It seems good ole censorship and media control is still working fine for Bushco.

22. It's not right to belittle your corporate overloards.
These men are only working for the companies. As such, we have no part in their business. They are just doing their job. The American people are meaningless pawns in their game. And I would cheer to see these creeps hanging from a lamp post. I'm glad the people are making their pitiful little lives difficult. It's all we can do, it seems.
